BAN ON ALL OUTDOOR FIRES IN FAIRFIELD

Statement from the Fairfield Fire Department:

Oct 28, 2024

Effective immediately, Fire Marshal Dennis Eannotti and Acting Fire Chief Kyran Dunn have issued a ban on ALL outdoor fires in the Town of Fairfield to align with the State of Emergency declaration from the State of Connecticut, and the Red Flag Warnings that have been issued by the National Weather Service. The ban includes firepits, chimineas, open burns, or any previously permitted fires.

Connecticut has experienced severely dry conditions and an ongoing lack of rain over the last two months, which has significantly increased the threat of fire conditions and caused many fires to start throughout the state, including in Fairfield. With no rain expected in the foreseeable forecast, it is critical to restrict any opportunity for ash or embers to spread or become airborne.

We ask that everyone remain extremely vigilant and report any signs of brush fires immediately by dialing 9-1-1.
