The Investigative Services Bureau is committed to maintaining public safety and upholding the law through comprehensive investigations and proactive community engagement. This bureau is responsible for addressing a wide range of criminal activity, from property crimes to serious offenses, while ensuring timely communication with the public and managing essential regulatory processes. With a focus on thorough investigative work and fostering positive relationships with the community, the bureau’s dedicated teams work to deliver justice, enhance transparency, and promote a safer Fairfield for all residents.


Detective Division

This division is responsible for handling a wide range of criminal investigations, including narcotic offenses, burglaries, larcenies, robberies, sexual assaults, missing persons, child abuse, homicides, and financial crimes such as identity theft. Detectives work on both routine cases and complex, long-term investigations. Additionally, this division manages the issuance of various permits, including pistol permits, transient merchant permits, and raffle or bazaar permits.


Public Affairs, Community Relations & Records
Serving as the main conduit for communication between the department and the public, this division ensures transparency and fosters trust within the community.

  • Public Information manages media relations, public announcements, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. It is also responsible for processing police reports, records, and overseeing property and evidence management.
  • Community Relations focuses on engaging the public through social media, emergency notifications, and initiatives such as Neighborhood Watch and Crime Prevention programs.
