The Fairfield Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is responsible for investigating serious and complex criminal offenses that require extensive investigative resources, specialized expertise, and coordinated law enforcement efforts.

The Major Crimes Unit investigates a wide range of incidents, including, but not limited to, violent crimes, shootings, robberies, aggravated assaults, weapons offenses, narcotics-related investigations, overdose incidents, suspicious deaths, homicide investigations, and major crime sprees occurring within the Town of Fairfield.

Detectives assigned to the MCU utilize a combination of traditional investigative techniques and modern technology, including digital forensics, video analysis, cellular data analysis, surveillance operations, search warrants, and interagency intelligence sharing. The unit works closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, as well as the State’s Attorney’s Office, to identify offenders, support victims, and ensure thorough and professional investigations.

The Major Crimes Unit is committed to protecting the community through proactive investigations, strategic enforcement efforts, and a relentless pursuit of those responsible for serious criminal activity.
