Captain Antonio Granata is a U.S. Army veteran with over 25 years of experience in law enforcement. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart University, a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education, and a Master’s Degree in Public Safety from the University of Virginia. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy's 283rd Session in Quantico, Virginia.
Currently serving as the Commander of the Investigative Services Bureau, Captain Granata leads several key divisions within the Fairfield Police Department, including the Detective Division, Office of Public Affairs, Community Outreach, Freedom of Information (FOI), Records Unit and the Evidence Unit. His leadership in these areas reflects his deep commitment to transparency, operational efficiency, and public safety.
Previously, as the Commander of the Administrative Services Bureau, Captain Granata managed critical department functions and projects. His responsibilities included oversight of the Professional Standards Division and Technical Services Division encompassing the Internal Affairs Unit, Training Unit, Fleet Management, Facilities Management, Records Unit, and Public Affairs Office. He also served as the department's municipal Liaison with regard to Human Resources, Payroll, Purchasing and Information Technology.
Throughout his career, Captain Granata has demonstrated exceptional versatility and dedication by seamlessly transitioning through a variety of roles. He has served as a Patrol Officer, SWAT Operator, FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Technical Services Lieutenant, and Public Information Officer.
