Fairfield Animal Control is a Division of the Fairfield Police Department that enforces all State Laws and Town Ordinance related to animals. It is the responsibility of the Animal Control Division to investigate roaming dogs, animal bites, cruelty to animals, barking nuisance, unreasonable tethering or confining of a dog, town defecation ordinance, leash law, valid rabies vaccination, dog licensure and rabies related wildlife complaints that present an eminent danger to the public.Click here to learn more about the Fairfield Police Department Animal Control Division.

Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a comprehensive background check.
- Should possess excellent communication skills and have experience handling animals.
- Must successfully complete the Municipal Animal Control Officer training program developed by the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture in accordance with CGS 22-328 as well as any additional training required by the State or Department.
- Basic computer knowledge/skills are necessary for report writing and various Animal Control programs.
- Must be able to pick up and move 50 pounds or possibly more during emergencies.
- Must be able to work independently and be able to respond to after hours emergency call-outs in a timely manner.
- Successfully complete continuing education annually to maintain certification.
